Despite what we were all led to believe, menopause isn’t just about hot flushes and rage. Oh, and, by the way, menopause is just a one day event retrospectively diagnosed 12 month’s from the date of a woman’s last period 🤯 A very basic fact that most people don’t know.
Perimenopause, the lead up to menopause, includes all of those preconceived ideas about ‘menopause’ when a woman’s hormonal changes start to take place and when oestrogen starts to decline at a significant rate. To make it easier, we will refer to the time from perimenopause through to post menopause as ‘menopause’ - on average, this is the period for women from late 30s to mid-60s.
Symptoms of Menopause
There are over 40 formally recognised symptoms of menopause and the list is constantly being added to!

Throughout her menopause transition, a woman might experience only one of these symptoms or she might experience many of them at different stages or in each month. We don’t know why some women have more symptoms than others nor why some women’s symptoms are more severe than others.
The point is, we’re all different. No one’s woman’s experience will be the same as another woman’s. Tracking and monitoring your symptoms, mood, energy and cycle during your menopause transition will help you to get the right support and guidance you need to be at your best.
